That time Meg Cabot asked for my friend's autograph!

I had the incredible opportunity to accompany my daughter and my bestie to hear author Meg Cabot of Princess Diaries fame speak through the Westerville Library. Why am I not surprised that she's as hilarious in real life as her voice is in her books? Alysia grew up loving Princess Diaries and even though she's twenty-one now she loved hearing the story of how the books came to be written. My favorite Meg Cabot book is a Hades/Persephone retelling that starts with the book, Abandon. I brought it with me to get signed, of course.

At the book signing, friends, I took a big chance. I'm just the kind of hype girl who couldn't help but mention that my bestie, Eva Siedler, wrote a published book herself. So I showed Meg the canvas bag I had made with Eva's cover. Side note: it's beautiful. Meg asked if she could have the bag and you never saw someone dump their stuff out so fast! My daughter said it was comical. But Meg was happy to have it and I was delighted to gift it to her!! The best part was when Meg asked Eva to sign the bag for her!! I wish we had thought to carry a copy of Eva's book with us.

It turns out Meg Cabot is absolutely the most incredible human, as well as one of my favorite writers.
